What you'll need.
Same product on every platform. Performance scales with your CPU; modern Apple Silicon and recent x64 chips both run at ~9× realtime on Whisper medium.
Platforms
macOS 13+ on Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) — Intel Macs aren't supported. Windows 10/11 x64. No Linux build yet.
Chip & GPU
Apple M-series on Mac. On Windows, any modern x64 CPU works; a discrete GPU (Vulkan) speeds transcription up, and without one it runs on the CPU — slower but fully functional.
2–8 GB on disk
App is ~120 MB. The rest is models — pick a smaller Whisper size if disk is tight, swap anytime in Settings.
No network required
After activation, the app runs fully offline. Block outbound traffic and it keeps working.
Integrity
Verified updates. Verifiable downloads.
Every update package is cryptographically signed (Ed25519), and the app verifies the signature before installing — a tampered update is rejected outright. Each release publishes SHA-256 checksums so you can verify what you downloaded. And updating stays your call: the auto-updater is off by default and never phones home unless you switch it on.
